Countertop ice makers
A countertop ice maker is a box about the size of a bread maker. You fill its tank, plug it in, and the first bullet ice drops in minutes. No plumbing. It does not keep ice frozen: what you do not use melts back into the tank and is made again.

Good to know before you buy
Does it keep ice frozen?
No. The basket is not a freezer. Ice slowly melts, drains back into the tank and is frozen again. Move ice you want to keep into a freezer bag.
Where can it stand?
On any flat counter near an outlet, with space around the side and back vents. The manual gives the exact gap. Under low wall cabinets, check that the lid can open.
Tank or water line?
Most countertop machines use a tank you fill by hand. A few also connect to a water line or a jug.
Which water?
Filtered water gives clearer, better-tasting ice and less white scale inside the machine.
